INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY VS TRADITIONAL TEACHING METHODS

Try to recall lessons of the Information Technology and answer the questions...
How much you have learnt during your Information Technology classes?
Did you find it interesting and useful?

According to us the answer is simple - learning without using computers can only bring benefits.
The traditional way of teaching is irreplaceable because of the specific unique atmosphere which computers cannot give you. This amazing atmosphere is created not only by classmates but also by a teacher whose personality and creativity can make the lesson uncommon and unforgettable. Teacher is a person who influences relationships among students. The most effective communication is when the teacher presents his ideas on the blackboard, explains, asks if everything is clear and understandable, check if they listen carefully and then let them to copy. It's worth mentioning that IT classes require the individual work focusing on your own ideas and relying mainly on oneself. Consequently it doesn't develop the relationships between classmates so they become reserved and unsociable.

The other argument against using computers in the education is that there are lot's of teachers of IT who are not properly qualified to teach this subject. Now I would like to refer to the questions that I asked you at the beginning. Have you heard about teaching IT by teacher of the P.E? There are many examples presenting this problem (not only PE teachers who teach IT). That's why we learn only basic programs such as Paint or Microsoft Word not only in primary school but in secondary school as well. These classes are boring and not developing children skills because child can easily learn this material alone at home.

There are plenty of other drawbacks of using PC at schools, for instance: health problems such as deterioration of eyesight or curvature of the spine, lack of funding to purchase a reliable and undeniably a very expensive equipment for every school. Opponents also say that IT classes are at school only to fill the gap in school curriculum and waste valuable time of students.

To sum up the IT classes are completely useless and unnecessary. Nothing will replace the traditional way of teaching which create the atmosphere of the cooperation, friendship and mutual help. You cannot compare in no case the blackboard and the chalk to the computer and the mouse.
There are not two ways about it!
